Project overview
This previous project involved electrical design work for a gas compressor station. The scope focused on the electrical distribution serving local equipment rooms, the building services within those LERs, and the design of new UPS systems to help maintain operation if the station experienced a power cut.
The requirement
The station required robust electrical design information for local equipment room infrastructure and supporting building services. A key requirement was resilience: the new UPS systems needed to support essential station operation during a loss of mains power, helping maintain continuity for critical electrical loads.
Scope of work
- Electrical distribution design for local equipment rooms.
- Building services design within LERs, including power, lighting and associated electrical services.
- Design input for new UPS systems serving the compressor station.
- Consideration of essential loads requiring backup power during a power cut.
- Coordination of distribution requirements with station equipment and local room layouts.
- Development of electrical design information suitable for review, coordination and installation planning.
Technical considerations
The design required an understanding of industrial electrical distribution, resilience and maintainability. The local equipment rooms needed suitable electrical infrastructure for day-to-day operation, while the UPS design had to consider critical loads, supply continuity and the ability of the station to remain operational during interruption of the normal electrical supply.
Outcome
The project demonstrates experience in industrial electrical design, local equipment room infrastructure, building services design and UPS-backed power systems. It also shows the ability to support technically important assets where reliability, coordination and clear design documentation are essential.
Relevant capability demonstrated
- Industrial electrical distribution design.
- Local equipment room electrical services.
- UPS system design for operational resilience.
